JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Buyer coordinates and performs all activities relevant to supply chain development and compliance.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Cooperates with engineers, production, quality, and others as assigned to draw up specifications, tolerances, as required to meet the material requirements of the business.
  • Review source of supply and quotations of various suppliers for authorized purchase requisitions, sends requests for quotations and interviews potential suppliers, and selects suppliers who best meet the quality, price and delivery requirements.
  • Conducts study of business and market conditions and analyzes information on material, supply, price trends, and government rules and regulations.
  • Seeks out new suppliers to reduce costs, improve quality of products or serve as substitutes for scarce items. Negotiates most contracts on behalf local facility.
  • Discusses defects of purchased goods with Quality Assurance or Engineering personnel to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Follows-up on important and urgently needed items to ensure specified delivery dates.
  • Ability to conceptualize the direction of assigned commodities and develops plans of action to achieve the goals and objectives of the group.
  • Ability to develop and implement new ideas to meet the business plan.
  • Compiles, enters, edits, and distributes purchase orders as required.
  • Must be cognizant of all-departmental procedures and associated responsibilities.
  • Review forecasts for independent demand items. Monitors and manages master demand schedule.
  • Responsible for creating, managing and maintaining the Master Production Schedule.
  • Responsible for managing the material requirements plan through the proper use of planned orders, firm planned orders and released work orders.
  • Follows up on the progress of orders and expedites as necessary to insure orders will be shipped on time.
  • Works with Supervisor to develop improvements in procedures and control.
  • Maintains close liaison with Purchasing, Suppliers, Manufacturing, Shipping and Customer Service.
  • Manage capacity constraints to meet customer and internal schedules.
  • Track part deliveries (manufactured and purchased) in support of manufacturing and expedite when necessary,
  • Improve daily ERP system flow, develop systems to improve material flow and information to increase our response time to customers,

 

  • Analyze and implement material replenishment options, coordinate monthly shipment plans, quote expedited deliveries of urgent materials, lead in long term contract quoting, lead in efforts to right-size stocking levels, and manage excess and obsolete inventory.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Communication- excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with members of the team.
  • Problem solving – must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; appropriately gather and analyze information and apply creative talents to problem-solving.
  • Confidentiality - ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive Company and personal information.
  • Quality – demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality. Detail orientated.
  • Adaptability – must be able to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment and manage competing demands in a productive manner.
  • Excellent Computer Skills to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google suite and Oracle experience preferred.
    • Open minded, willingness to accept/drive change and lead others.
    • Thorough understanding of the EnPro Transformation including dual bottom line, core values and empowerment concepts.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • College degree required or 5 years of experience in an equal or greater role. A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in knowledge and understanding of the total procurement process.
  • Strong negotiation skills to aggressively close deals that positively affect bottom-line results and promote win/win relationships with our key vendors.
  • Strong listening, interpersonal and communication skills for communicating upward, downward, and horizontal messages.
  • Good knowledge of the products and manufacturing processes.

Clarity of vision to see near and mid-range. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
