Responsible for conducting leak testing of metal seal products and assemblies, metallographic inspection of metal seals and assemblies, and supports Commercial and Operations teams with proposals, quotes, and planning activities for new projects. Also requires the ability to coordinate activities with Research and Development Team, Application Design Engineers, and Project Managers to design product testing equipment.  



  • Assist with testing cost and schedule estimates for proposals, quotes, and planning. 

  • Support of new product design reviews and creation of new experimental test plans. 

  • Ensure testing compliance with customer and industry standards. 

  • Design inspection fixtures, test equipment, and occasionally manufacturing tooling necessary to experiment with current and future products. 

  • Clearly write, explain and support test plans, procedures, and results reports. 

  • Perform physical experimentation of products and components. 

  • Follow safety protocol, identifies safety hazards, and mitigate safety risks. 

  • Occasional travel required in support of customer testing or internal experimentation. 

  • Manage experimental laboratory hardware and software for scheduling, usage, and support business cases for upgrades and replacement of machinery and hardware 

  • Understands preventative maintenance schedules and tracks lab hardware and usage to remain ahead of outages. 



  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 



  • Actively participates in Safety Committee Team and continuous improvement initiatives around the Columbia Facility. 

  • Performs any other assigned duties as directed by management. 

  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time 



  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from a four-year ABET accredited institution and 2 years practical experience; or six years directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Material science background is preferred but not essential 

  • Effective command of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. 

  • Interpret drawings per ASME Y14.5. 

  • Familiar with AS9100 or ISO9001 manufacturing standards. 

  • Can work independently. 

  • Has a forward-thinking mentality to help identify potential growth opportunities and investments that will provide value to the overall business unit and stimulus to the Research and Development team. 

  • CAD experience a plus, prefer SolidWorks experience. 

  • High precision pressure testing experience is a requirement, previous experience with load frame and helium leak detection equipment is a plus. 

  • Fluid dynamics background and general understanding is a plus. 

  • LabView experience or other data acquisition technology a plus
