JOB SUMMARY: 

The Laboratory Engineer Intern performs engineering work relative to customer product applications, and for the improvement of existing products.  The Laboratory Engineer Intern works as a bridge between customers, operations teams, and engineering teams using customer and engineering input to test, study and investigate various parts.  The individual in this role provides specialized technical service to the engineering team for the solution of design and application problems. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Provides advice and technical information to customers and salespeople in matters pertaining to applications and assists the engineering team as required for satisfactory product performance. 

  • Articulates technology, product and application data to both business and technical users. 

  • Conduct, or assist with the conduct of complex laboratory tests 

  • Prepares lab reports for internal and/or external use  

  • Performs technical/product training for Inside Sales, Operations, Engineering and end users for targeted accounts; assists in the onsite technical training of sales team members. 

  • Keeps abreast of new product developments and applications for use in adaptation to company products. 

  • Responsible for carrying out assignments of moderate complexity.  

  • Analyze field samples and report back to initiator of request. 

  • Carries out special projects in business development, safety and continuous improvement as required. 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Enrollment in Bachelor’s Degree program in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required at accredited college or university; related or similar disciplines could be considered.  

  • Demonstrates great interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement.
