The Research and Development Design Engineer position tasks will entail the development and analysis of currently supplied products and future developed products.  The engineer will interact cross functionally with the various Technetics locations, specifically with the local design and operations teams to understand how new products will eventually be made and supported. Furthermore, the design engineer will support laboratory testing of new products through the development process.


  • Understand engineering simulation results and set-up procedures, be able to conduct 2D and 3D structural simulations of new products and designs.
  • Be willing and able to learn how to conduct digital flow simulation and understand/extract accurate simulation data to support product development from a fluid dynamics perspective.
  • Understand basic material science and strength of materials.
  • Develop, plan, and execute product testing internally and with outside partners to evaluate and analyze current and future sealing products.
  • Be willing and able to learn how to utilize laboratory tools and test equipment, like leak detector and compression testing machines when necessary.
  • Must have a forward-thinking design and development mentality related to product design and development and be able to interface with commercial and strategy teams to identify new spaces to develop products.


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
  • Demonstrable technical problem-solving ability and good quality decision making
  • Strong technical skills regarding mechanical and structural development and design
  • Proficiency using SolidWorks or similar 3D solid modeling
  • Proficiency using ANSYS or similar finite element analysis code
  • Experience with ASME Y14 drawing standards
  • Product design, development, and operational implementation experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Committed, dedicated and self-motivated working ethics, with full ownership of projects or assigned tasks

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in an engineering or technical field
  • Project management experience
  • Technical knowledge and practical experience developing products for extremely high temperatures or other critical conditions like cryogenics and extreme pressures
  • The desire to strive for continuous improvement and excellence within a fast-paced growth environment
  • Experience in the design and fabrication of metal seals, fittings, or flanges
  • Familiarity with NADCAP, AS9100, ISO9001, Six Sigma, and/or Lean Manufacturing


Sitting; standing; walking throughout the facility; talking; seeing; hearing; feeling; bending or stooping; squatting or crouching; reaching; kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting up to 35 lbs.  The candidate must wear appropriate/required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and must be able to work at a desk or in front of a computer for long periods of time.
