The 2nd shift PTFE Technician role is a skilled position which entails scope and responsibility over the process of the application of Teflon via spray coating to metal rings before shipment to the customer.  The person filling this role will be responsible for several duties, including but not limited to performing/following all processes and procedures in the area, coating via customer specifications, implementing new creative solutions for coating new parts and maintaining a robust safety and continuous improvement mindset and culture in the department.


  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, working independently without supervision, by maintaining a high level of output with low manufacturing waste.
  • Accountable to the team to achieve daily production goals, metrics, and measures.
  • Applies Teflon spray coating evenly onto a wide variety of form and shape of metal parts.
  • Cures and bakes coated seals in Industrial Ovens.
  • Prepares base materials for PTFE Coating by sand blasting, masking, chemical and mechanical cleaning processes.
  • Ensures parts are dimensionally and visually acceptable per customer requirements using various measuring tools and equipment.
  • Uses understanding of customer specifications to use the correct chemicals, dimensions, inspection methods, and performance testing of finished product.
  • Communicates frequently and appropriately with Product Line Leader, Engineers, Quality Control, and peers to ensure daily goals are met and resources are pulled in as needed.
  • Diligently follows heavily detailed process specifications and standard works.
  • Maintains organization and implements 5S tools for the PTFE area.
  • Completes PTFE dispersion requirements to ensure quality parts can be delivered on time to the customer.
  • Maintains supplies, inventory, and expiration dates of chemicals.


  • Actively participates in Safety Committee and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performs any other assigned duty as directed by leadership.



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, documents and/or prints highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in coatings or spray painting industry highly preferred.
  • 3+ plus years in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Knowledge of tools and machinery used in coating processes highly preferred.
  • Demonstrates great inter personal and communication skills.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and ability to think creatively required.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on several different projects/orders at once while maintaining acceptable level of quality is required.
  • Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement.



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Be able to work day to day safely with hazardous chemicals
  • Be able to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Be able to reach overhead
  • Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time
  • Be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
  • Be able to lift and/or move 35 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday
  • Be able to work in warm temperatures
