Production Technician (Nuclear Seals)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Technician is a multi-departmental, diverse role which operates high speed machines and tools for fabricating, manufacturing or assembling parts.  The Production Technician position can range from entry level/trainee to highly technical.  Someone in this position is expected to operate at a high technical and interpersonal level with the ability to collaborate and troubleshoot to solve problems.  They are also expected to be well-rounded and cross trained in their functional areas. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• The Production Technician position can include the following roles:
  • Plating Technician
  • Drill & Tap Operator
  • Speed Lathe Operator
  • CNC Operator
  • PTFE Technician
  • Welder
  • Unique, multi-faceted positions in UVEC and Helicoflex departments.
• Uses a variety of equipment to manufacture close tolerance products.
• Reads prints and/or work orders to understand work piece specifications, tooling and material requirements and sequence of production operations.
• Works with different metals such as Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Copper, etc.
• Performs basic machine set ups (tooling, dies, fixtures) and manufactures to routers and specifications.
• Performs in-process inspections using basic M&TE (measuring and test equipment).
• Assists in the identification, development and implementation of new manufacturing processes.
• Performs basic to moderately complex manufacturing processes.
• Understands lean manufacturing and assist in continuous improvement.
• Trains other employees in basic processes and safe operation of equipment / machinery.
• Conform to the company’s culture of safety, excellence, quality, service and continuous improvement, while taking personal responsibility for your own actions and treating fellow employees, customers and vendors respectfully and ethically.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Actively participates in Safety Committee and continuous improvement initiatives.
• As directed by Team Leader and/or Product Line Leader

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Degree or equivalent (GED) required
• Experience in electroplating, Orbital welding or general metal forming highly preferred.
• Intermediate skills in carpentry
• At least 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with proficient math skills.
• Able to perform abstract thinking in trouble shooting and manufacturing process improvements.
• Able to collaborate, communicate and build and maintain relationships effectively.
