Part Time Senior Machinist is a senior level position to perform general and complex lathe and mill tasks on manual machines, CNC machines or both, and demonstrating the ability to train machinist. They will apply all aspects of machining operations and the potential to support other tasking within the Operations team, to fill in as needed in support of manufacturing production schedule.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities necessary to meet the minimum job requirements of this position.  The part time position will be used to adapt to the changing workload and needs of the facility. 




  • Provides part time support with a previously established and agreed upon work schedule. Communicate in advance with the cell team Supervisor if they cannot meet the planned schedule commitment.
  • Adapt work schedule to adjust to the changing requirements of the production plan.  If there is insufficient workload to support a previously planned weekly hour schedule, then work hours may be reduced or eliminated with advance notice and coordination with the employee.  Every effort will be made to keep the workload and schedule consistent
  • Drive safe operations by identifying safety risks and adhering to safety procedures, requirements, and regulations.
  • Produces complex machined parts, assemblies, tool jigs and fixtures by operating and adjusting manual and/or CNC machines, such as, but not limited to, mills, lathes, etc.
  • Performs and trains machinist in complex machine set-ups, tool changes and program modifications
  • Serves as a machining Subject Matter Expert (SME) within areas of demonstrated competent authority in relation to Quality and Cost.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions and first-run pieces in accordance with standards and requirements
  • Utilizes drawings, sketches, and/or verbal/written instructions to safely produce high quality close tolerance parts while detecting defects, troubleshooting malfunctioning processes and other quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintaining the work area safe, clean and organized, assisting 5S and/or general good housekeeping practices
  • Performs minor machine preventative maintenance (PM), as assigned by the Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager or designated representative
  • Documents daily tasks and production data, as required, via designated logs or labor management and MRP systems
  • Participate in the “continuous improvement” and LEAN programs to improve, increase throughput and identify cost reductions.



  • Minimum of 10 years of machining experience and demonstrated expertise in precision machining
  • Computer literacy, including CNC programming experience
  • Ability to read and understand basic blue prints and have training or education in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to utilize and interpret precision measuring equipment
  • Must be a competent authority in Manual and/or CNC machines, including the ability to machine complex components with lathes and/or mills
  • Ability to conduct set-ups and make offsets for highly complexity components without assistance and/or supervision
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Experience desired
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and communication skills



This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.



Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle and feel material, as well as reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
