Job Summary & Job Duties
The Operations Process Engineer is responsible for the run-to-run process control of the Alluxa thin film coating machines as well as the characterization and optimization of the coating machine hardware and coating process. Key activities include timely evaluation and assessment of prior coating run results and process data resulting in feedback to the coating machine operator team and the planning team for any needed changes or adjustments to machine operating parameters and/or the manufacturing plan. Additional responsibilities include machine standardization and optimization for coating uniformity, deposition rates, thin film material properties and the optical monitoring system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coating run results evaluation: reviews coating run results for spectral performance and coating quality in order to provide timely feedback to the coating machine operator and planning teams. Gives instructions for process adjustments and schedule changes based on results analysis.
Process data assessment: reviews coating machine process data and performance charts (SPC) in order to provide timely feedback on coating machine process status and any necessary changes to operating parameters or planned production schedule.
Machine standardization: Maintains a coating machine configuration table documenting the current configuration of each coating machine. Works with Planning and Engineering resources to appropriately standardize machine configurations based on production needs and technical advancements.
Machine optimization: Uses manufacturing process data to optimize coating machine performance for uniformity, deposition rates, and material properties. Specific activities include optimizing mask trims, optical monitor performance and characterization of machine rate drift behavior.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications
4 year technical degree: BS or BA in Engineering or Physics
2 years or more experience performing a similar engineering role
Preferred Qualifications:
PREFERRED ABILITY to:
• Read and interpret engineering drawings of parts, tooling, and equipment.
• Work with a high degree of accuracy; high attention to detail
• Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices
• Accomplish tasks with minimum supervision
• Prioritize multiple tasks at once
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE of:
• Optical thin film filter design, manufacturing processes and testing
• Engineering statistics
• Mathematics and scientific principles/units
