JOB SUMMARY:

Manage and coordinate materials management (Planning/Inventory Control/Logistics) functions at optimum cost and performance in accordance with established company objectives.  Lead and develop a team to create and maintain “world class” supply chain practices, harmonizing best practices in the field of Materials Management across the Palmyra “East End” operations. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide operations with subject matter expertise and supports all aspects of materials management with a strong focus in lean and ERP system knowledge and leadership. 
• Develop and maintain a highly effective organization.  Participate in development, communication and measurement of strategic objectives within the materials management organization. 
• Develop talent necessary to obtain short- and long-term goals by providing effective direction, mentoring, and training.   
• Maintain continuity during team member absences through cross-training, standard work, and working knowledge of multiple product lines.
• Lead improvement activities in materials planning/logistical arenas.  Conduct continuous improvement programs across business using lean manufacturing concepts such as best piece flow, Kanban pull systems, and supplier re-order signals to provide a continuous flow of material at the optimum total cost in a multi-plant/business unit environment. 
• Analyze results of unit operations, especially in the areas of working capital, inventory turns, excess and obsolete charges, as well as freight and material variances. Provide aggressive corrective action plans that eliminate the root cause(s). 
• Lead team that communicates to business leaders regarding specific issues, detailing root cause and action taken. 
• Lead materials planning team to arrange scheduling of production floor and procurement of raw materials, packaging materials and operating supplies to meet production requirements.  
• Lead and coordinate physical inventory efforts.  Write and train procedures, schedules activities to prepare for effective inventory events, and implement formal audits and cycle counts.

COMPETENCIES:  

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate work experience.
• 8-10 years broad experience in the field of materials and general management 
• Computer skills in Google, MSOffice and ERP systems 
• Demonstrated knowledge of optimizing materials management supply chain through the application of Lean tools and techniques. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Some travel may be required
