Works with the Maintenance Value Steam Leader to ensure work is accomplished in a safe and efficient manner for the Maintenance bargaining unit workforce.  This position will be responsible for supervising and coaching the maintenance work force, administer the provisions of the union agreement/contract, provide equipment maintenance expertise, and ensure equipment is available for plant operations. Ensures the work force is available for scheduled work, job plans are efficient and effective, and scheduling is accurate and communicated to the work force and operations/customers. This individual champions proactive maintenance, works to minimize reactive maintenance, and implements preventive and predictive maintenance programs.


  • Uses input from managers, supervisors, engineers and maintenance planner to create or finalize work schedules for assigned maintenance crews. 
  • Leads corrective and preventive maintenance activities by managing work requests, analyzing job requirements, and determining materials, equipment, and labor needs in order to complete maintenance tasks economically and efficiently. 
  • Coordinates a daily maintenance schedule for assigned trades and assists the maintenance manager in determining job priorities. Makes changes and adjustments to the schedule and work plans after a review with the maintenance planner.  Maintains a complete and current backlog of work orders. 
  • Works closely with operations and other internal customers to ensure equipment repairs are completed, delays and timeframes are communicated, and equipment is returned to operation in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Works closely with the maintenance manager, maintenance planner, and other supervisors to determine manpower availability and allocation. 
  • Champions the timely completion of safety work orders and ensures the accurate collection of work order data for preventive and predictive maintenance work. 
  • Ensures CMMS data is complete and current. Trains and coaches assigned trades in proper completion and documentation of work orders, maintenance activities, and equipment information.  
  • Identifies required materials for planned jobs and initiates appropriate requests. 
  • Identifies, analyzes and reviews maintenance problems with maintenance engineering and revises the maintenance management program as necessary to improve and enhance plant and field operations.  Assists in the education of maintenance personnel. 
  • Embraces the concepts of servant leadership, and coaching & mentoring teams to increase self-management. Leads regular meetings with assigned colleagues and interfaces one-on-one for coaching, mentoring, and developing the work force. 
  • Enforces plant safety rules.  Instructs personnel in safe working habits.  Responsible to investigate any accidents and implement any corrective actions necessary to prevent reoccurrence.   
  • Utilizes the computerized maintenance management system to manage work and ensure that data collected by hourly colleagues is accurate and complete. 
  • Assists Maintenance Manager as needed in the development and management of capital projects, systems and tools.



  • Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience 
  • Demonstrated capability in mathematics, time management and the ability to read blueprints. 
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with all levels of the organization.  
  • Ability to balance the needs of the business with the safety of our colleagues
  • General computer competency for email and office programs required. Skills with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft applications, and Oracle desired. 
  • Experience as scheduler, Operations Supervisor, or Maintenance Engineer in an industrial environment. 
  • Proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems. 
  • Proven experience with safety concepts as related to maintenance work and maintenance work scheduling.
